Private podcast

How do you choose a host for a private podcast?

Individual feeds, invited listeners and quotas: understand the differences before choosing a private-podcast plan.

A selected audience, not just a hidden link

A private podcast is intended for a restricted audience. An individual feed lets you invite or remove someone without replacing the link for every listener. That differs from a public feed that is simply not listed in directories. Check the platform’s access and revocation rules.

Listener numbers can change the plan

Transistor lists quotas of 50, 500 and 3,000 private subscribers depending on the plan. Downloads remain a separate criterion. A project with few plays but many invited people may therefore require a higher plan than a public podcast with the same audience.

What our calculation covers

The “Private listeners” field corresponds to subscribers to a single private feed. For Captivate, the quotas come from its premium-feed guide and must be reconfirmed before purchase. Buzzsprout remains outside our private-podcast estimate: we do not assume that a paid-subscription feature provides the same access control.

Prepare a migration without losing access

Before transferring a private podcast, check subscriber imports, changes to RSS links and supported apps. Your listeners’ contact details stay with your provider: Budget Podcast does not ask for a contact list and does not handle any private subscriptions.
